Debra (Gail) Fisher “Bubber” Huffman, of Waynesboro VA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 9, 2021.
Debbie was born to the late Thomas Austin Fisher and Mary Austin (Wade) Fisher on July 17, 1957.
Debbie attended Waynesboro High School.
Debbie was a nurturer and worked most of her adult life in long term care facilities. She worked at District Home until they closed permanently and Avante until 2004. Her compassion for her patients went above and beyond.
Debbie was the primary caregiver for her parents when they became ill. She cared for many and did what she could with little in return. She was a big kid at heart, loved all children and cared for them as if they were her own.
Besides spending time with her family and friends, Debbie enjoyed the beach, rock music, cats, and Native American culture.
Debbie is survived by sister, Brenda Fitzgerald; brother, Donald Fisher; brother-in-law Jerry Huffman; sister-in-law Hilda Fisher; special niece Stephanie Crespo (Melanie) and their two children Hayden and Saylor; and many nieces, nephews and special friends. She also leaves behind her feline companion, “Boo Boo.”
In addition to her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her husband Hunter Huffman; brother Ronald Fisher; and brother-in-law Eldridge “Ricky” Fitzgerald.
Per Debbie’s request, she will be cremated.
The family will receive friends at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home on Sunday November 14, 2021 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., with a memorial service held in the chapel at 2:00 P.M.
